Network and Security Engineer – Expression of Interest

The Network and Security Engineer is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and supporting secure network solutions that enable mcrIT to deliver reliable, high-quality services to its customers. This role emphasises hands-on engineering and operational support across networking and security platforms, ensuring solutions are delivered effectively, efficiently, and in alignment with client requirements.

The engineer will configure and deploy network and security technologies, troubleshoot complex issues, monitor performance, and assist with ongoing infrastructure improvements. They will also contribute to solution documentation, support project transitions into production, and collaborate closely with delivery teams to ensure seamless execution.

The individual must demonstrate strong technical expertise in network topologies, firewalls, VPNs, cloud networking, and server integration, along with a solid understanding of security best practices. This senior engineering role within mcrIT’s Client Services team requires the ability to work independently, exercise sound technical judgment, and provide mentorship to junior engineers when needed.

The candidate will have:

– Industry-based technical qualification (degree preferred) in Networking or Telecommunications Engineering,

– Demonstrable expertise in Networking and Security with a focus on Fortinet solutions,

– Vendor certifications / qualifications preferred in Fortinet

– Other relevant experience such as Cisco, Juniper, and Checkpoint are highly desirable,

– Solid understanding of network protocols,

– Solid ITIL understanding with a focus on proper change management.

Work includes design, Change record and operational handover document creation.

Work involves both business hours and after-hours deployments and migrations.
