This role is suited to a career Legal Secretary who enjoys being an integral part of a busy practice and takes pride in delivering polished, reliable support. It is not an entry‑level or graduate opportunity, and is not intended for law students seeking experience while studying.
The Opportunity
Working on site in our office, you will play a critical role in the smooth day‑to‑day running of the practice. You will provide end‑to‑end secretarial and administrative support to lawyers, ensuring matters progress efficiently and to a high professional standard.
Discretion, accuracy and a client‑first approach are essential, as you will regularly liaise with clients, barristers, courts and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- File opening, maintenance and ongoing file management
- Drafting cost agreements and preparing, issuing and managing tax invoices
- Assisting with debtor management
- Credit card reconciliation
- End‑of‑month billing processes
- Payment of invoices and financial auditing reports
- Diary and calendar management, including scheduling meetings
- Saving and managing emails and correspondence within files
- Answering and making phone calls to clients and stakeholders
- Liaising with lawyers, principals, barristers, courts and external parties
- General legal secretarial and administrative support as required
What You’ll Bring
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Proven experience as a Legal Secretary (Family Law experience highly regarded)
- Alternatively, substantial administration experience within a professional services or legal environment
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy and consistency
- Strong time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills
- A confident, warm and client‑focused manner
- A proactive approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience using legal practice management systems
