About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team in Mount Isa, QLD. This is a key role
within the business, responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders across a diverse range of civil, structural, mechanical and piping projects for both surface and underground mining operations.
Working closely with the Senior Estimator, Operations and Engineering teams, you will play an
integral role in the bid process, from opportunity assessment through to submission. You will also mentor other estimators, manage estimating workflows and contribute to the continuous improvement of our estimating processes.
We would love to hear from candidates based in Mount Isa, however we are also open to FIFO
applicants from across QLD.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate cost estimates by reviewing project drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Assist with bid/no-bid evaluations and tender strategy.
- Develop detailed costings covering labour, materials, plant, equipment and subcontractors.
- Source, negotiate and manage subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to prepare high-quality tender submissions.
- Manage estimating schedules to ensure submission deadlines are consistently achieved.
- Travel to operational sites when required to support workshops and project reviews.
About You To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in an estimating role within mining, heavy industry or construction.
- A trade qualification.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong computer literacy.
- Experience negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate work.
- The ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening.
