As our Process Development Scientist, you will play a critical role in developing, optimising, and scaling downstream manufacturing processes that support product quality, consistency, and commercial success. Working closely with Technical, Manufacturing, Quality, and New Product Development teams, you will help transition products from development into scalable manufacturing environments.

What You Will Do

  • Design and optimise downstream processes, including purification, isolation, and finishing steps
  • Develop robust methods to improve product quality, consistency, yield, and reproducibility
  • Support scale-up activities from the laboratory through to the pilot and manufacturing environments
  • Identify and control critical process parameters (CPPs) and critical quality attributes (CQAs)
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing teams to ensure processes are scalable and practical
  • Analyse process and experimental data to support optimisation decisions
  • Apply statistical tools such as DoE to improve process understanding
  • Troubleshoot process-related issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Prepare technical documentation, including SOPs, protocols, and reports
  • Support regulatory and quality documentation requirements
  • Communicate technical outcomes clearly across scientific and non-technical stakeholders

 

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Material Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field
  • 2–5 years’ experience in product development, R&D, or laboratory-based environments
  • Experience with purification, filtration, or separation techniques
  • Knowledge of downstream processing and manufacturing workflows
  • Experience designing and executing experiments and analysing data
  • Familiarity with analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, UV-Vis, FTIR, DSC, or similar techniques
  • Experience working within biotech or regulated manufacturing environments (desirable)
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capability
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
