Description

Master Builders Members Legal is a specialist construction law firm providing expert advice to Master Builders members. The work is varied and engaging, offering the opportunity to support a diverse range of clients across a broad range of matters.

Working within a down-to-earth team and reporting directly to the Principal Lawyer, this role is ideal for a construction lawyer with 5+ years post-admission experience looking to broaden their expertise while delivering exceptional service to members.

Pending commencement, this position is being offered as a fixed-term opportunity to cover a period of maternity leave for approximately 10 months.

Your New Role:

Our members deliver projects across all levels of the domestic and commercial building and construction industry and seek specialist legal advice on both front-end and back-end matters. Any given day may see you:

  • Reviewing standard form contracts
  • Conducting contract reviews and advising members on contract risks and proposed amendments
  • Providing legal advice on contract interpretation, administration, payment disputes, and suspension/termination matters
  • Supporting client education by contributing to training sessions, information seminars, and industry publications focused on contracts, payments, and dispute management

To be successful you will have:

  • 5+ years post admission experience in construction law
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation including the Queensland Building and Construction Commission Act and the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment) Act
  • Experience in contracts management / administration within the commercial construction sector (highly desirable).
