Role Summary

Masada College seeks an outstanding Science Teacher to inspire students through engaging, innovative, and inquiry-based learning experiences across the science curriculum. The successful applicant will deliver a contemporary and dynamic curriculum across Stages 4 and 5, with the capacity to teach Stage 6 courses as required.


The role requires the ability to effectively differentiate learning to support and extend students of varying abilities, while fostering curiosity, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and an understanding of the scientific method through practical and investigative learning experiences.


We are seeking a passionate educator who values hands-on, project-based, and student-centred learning approaches, encouraging students to explore, design, question, and innovate with confidence.


Key Accountabilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Demonstrate proven success as a classroom teacher in Science, with the capability to teach Science courses across Stages 4 and 5 and the capacity to teach Stage 6 courses if required.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging learning programs aligned with the NSW curriculum.
  • Incorporate differentiated teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Foster student curiosity, independence, creativity, and critical thinking through inquiry-based and practical learning experiences.
  • Develop students’ scientific understanding, problem-solving skills, and confidence as learners.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that promotes high expectations and student wellbeing.
  • Integrate digital technologies and contemporary teaching practices to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

Curriculum and Professional Practice

  • Develop and maintain professional knowledge, including current curriculum and syllabus requirements.
  • Maintain accurate student records, assessment data, and reporting requirements through school platforms such as SEQTA.
  • Contribute positively to faculty planning, curriculum development, and collaborative practices.
  • Attend and actively participate in College professional learning programs and staff meetings.
  • Support school-wide initiatives, policies, and educational priorities.

Student Wellbeing and Support

  • Participate in pastoral care responsibilities as required by the College.
  • Liaise with Learning Support staff and Year Patrons to assist students requiring adjustments or additional support.
  • Build positive and respectful relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Attend and participate in Parent/Teacher Interviews and related communication opportunities.

Laboratory and Operational Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the Laboratory Assistant to ensure the smooth and safe operation of laboratory spaces and practical activities.
  • Support safe laboratory practices and adherence to WHS requirements.

Co-Curricular and Community Engagement

  • Support school events including Science Evening, incursions, excursions, competitions, and other faculty initiatives that enhance student learning experiences.

Specific requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in the preparation and organisation of teaching resources, laboratory equipment, and practical learning activities.
  • Strong understanding of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies, procedures, and safe laboratory practices within a school environment.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the wider school community.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and discretion in all workplace interactions, while adhering to the College’s Code of Conduct and values.
  • Ability to address concerns appropriately and communicate effectively with relevant staff and leadership.
  • Proficiency in the use of digital technologies and educational platforms, including Google Workspace and related learning technologies.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Flexible, proactive, and collaborative approach to working within a team environment.
