Senior Financial Accountant  

Office Location: Hobart, TAS

Your Role  

As a Senior Financial Accountant, you’ll be a key point of contact for the Finance team, providing expert financial accounting, statutory reporting, governance, compliance and business support within a complex infrastructure project environment.  

You’ll:  

  • Lead the preparation and delivery of half-year and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and statutory obligations.  
  • Manage month-end and year-end financial close processes, external audits, financial controls, taxation requirements and governance frameworks.  
  • Oversee capital accounting, fixed asset management and project expenditure reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and organisational policies.  
  • Drive continuous improvement across financial systems, reporting processes and controls, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and data integrity.  
  • Provide financial insight and accounting advice to support decision-making across the business and contribute to Board, Executive and Committee reporting.  
  • Lead and mentor accounting team members, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration and continuous improvement.

You’ll Need  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.  
  • CPA or CA qualification.  
  • Significant experience in financial management, financial accounting or senior accounting roles.  
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, statutory compliance and governance requirements.  
  • Experience managing external audits, taxation obligations, financial controls and financial reporting processes.  
  • Demonstrated experience delivering process improvements, systems enhancements and change initiatives within a finance environment.  
  • Experience working in complex project or infrastructure environments with rigorous governance and stakeholder scrutiny.  
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.  
  • High proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

The two-way energy highway will enable Tasmania and Victoria to share much more electricity, pairing Victoria’s wind and solar with Tasmania’s flexible hydropower system and geographically diverse wind. This is a powerful synergy that strengthens the grid for both states. Marinus Link’s fibre optic cables will improve digital connectivity between Tasmania and Victoria by 150 times. After years of planning and design, construction is on the horizon. Marinus Link is jointly owned by the Commonwealth of Australia, the State of Tasmania and the State of Victoria.
