Support Worker, Safe and Strong Families Program

This is a full time, maximum term position available until 25 June 2027, with the opportunity for extension, subject to ongoing funding.
Maranguka is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join our Safe and Strong Families Program. This early intervention program works alongside families to provide culturally safe, trauma-informed, and therapeutic support for people who have experienced domestic and family violence, including children.
In this role, you will provide practical support, case management, and group programs that help individuals and families build confidence, strengthen relationships, and improve safety and wellbeing. Working alongside families, you will support them to achieve their goals and create safer, stronger futures.
Your Key Responsibilities
– Provide case management, advocacy, referrals, and practical support to individuals and families affected by domestic and family violence.
– Respond to referrals in a timely way and keep accurate, up-to-date records.
– Plan and deliver domestic and family violence education and skills programs
– Work with the community to raise awareness and promote healthy, respectful relationships.
– Build and maintain positive working relationships with community organisations, government agencies, and other service providers.
– Keep the safety and wellbeing of children at the centre of all planning, decision-making, and support provided.
Requirements for Success
– A qualification in Community Services, Social Work, or a related field, or relevant work experience.
– Experience working with individuals and families affected by family and domestic violence.
– Understanding of the challenges faced by families experiencing family and domestic violence, homelessness, alcohol and other drug use, and mental health concerns.
– Experience supporting people through case management and providing practical, person-centred support.
– Experience planning and delivering group programs or educational sessions.
– A current unrestricted drivers licence.
– A paid Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)

– A competitive hourly rate starting from $40.49 (dependent on experience, skills and qualifications) – This position is covered under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (SCHADS)
