Finance Officer – Corporate

High-impact role supporting $50M+ operations 

Location: Bundaberg, QLD

Reports To: Finance Manager

About the Role

This is more than a traditional finance role. You will be a trusted support to the Finance Manager while providing high-level corporate client administration, project planning support, and corporate liaison across government agencies, contractors, and key stakeholders. You will help drive accurate financial reporting, budget tracking (project and client operations), variance analysis, and smooth corporate operations in a fast-paced agribusiness environment. The role offers excellent visibility supporting the Operations Manager, Chief Operating Officer, and CEO.

Key Responsibilities

  • High-level accounts payable: accurate invoice processing, supplier statement reconciliations, payment file preparation, and tax compliance (ABN/GST/bank validation)
  • Corporate client inbox management – triage, respond, and resolve queries professionally; maintain strong stakeholder relationships
  • Project administration & planning support including project budget tracking and client operations budget monitoring
  • Prepare budget variance reports, monthly management reports, and financial commentary for senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Accurate meeting minute taking and action tracking; support cross-functional coordination and follow-through
  • Corporate liaison with government agencies, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams – professional representation of MFM
  • General ledger & bank reconciliations, journal entries (accruals, prepayments), and month-end close support
  • Maintain robust internal controls, support internal/external audits, and ensure compliance with policies and regulations
  • Assist with forecasting, budgeting cycles, and financial analysis within a $50M+ operational scope
  • Identify process improvements and actively contribute to continuous improvement across finance and administration functions

Essential Criteria

  • Strong finance / accounts payable background with proven experience in invoice processing, reconciliations, reporting, and compliance
  • Exceptional communication skills (written & verbal) and outstanding administrative accuracy with high attention to detail
  • Advanced proficiency in Xero, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook – essential
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with drive, initiative, and proactive problem-solving
  • Experience in project budget tracking, variance reporting, and professional minute taking
  • Current unencumbered C Class Driver’s Licence
  • Confidence liaising with government agencies, contractors, corporate clients, and senior internal stakeholders
  • High integrity, discretion with confidential information, and commitment to MFM’s values and safety culture

Desirable (but not essential)

  • 5+ years’ experience in finance, accounts payable, or high-level corporate administration support roles
  • Familiarity with additional systems such as MYOB or Business Central
  • Previous experience in agribusiness, horticulture, logistics, manufacturing, or multi-site operational environments
  • Certificate IV in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Experience providing direct support to senior management
