We are seeking an Experienced Legal Assistant to join our NSW team, with a strong focus on Institutional Abuse claims. This is a long-term opportunity within a stable and growing national firm where you can make a meaningful impact supporting survivors of historical abuse.

Role Overview

You will provide high-level administrative and legal support to solicitors working on institutional abuse matters, many of which are highly sensitive and complex. This role requires prior experience in this area and a genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable clients through their legal journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting and preparing legal correspondence and documents
  • Communicating and corresponding with survivors of historical sexual abuse in a professional and empathetic manner
  • Requesting and managing historical records, including lodging GIPA requests
  • Preparing and filing court documents in the District and Supreme Courts via the Online Court Registry
  • Managing file workflow, key dates, and task system
  • Preparing chronologies and collating evidentiary material
  • Assisting with litigation processes and court documentation
  • Supporting solicitors with day-to-day file management

Key Requirements

  • Essential: Demonstrated experience in Institutional Abuse claims, including working with survivors of historical sexual abuse
  • Essential: Experience requesting historical government records, including GIPA applications
  • Essential: Experience supporting litigated matters in the District and Supreme Courts, including online filing
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Strong drafting and written communication skills
  • A compassionate, resilient, and client-focused approach
