Trusted by ASX-listed entities, multinational clients, General Counsels, in-house teams, and business leaders across a broad range of industries, Law Squared focuses on those areas crucial to business success, including Corporate + Commercial, Employment + Workplace Relations, Disputes + Litigation, Privacy + Cyber and Digital + Innovation.
Law Squared has offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Auckland and London.
About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional Senior Corporate Lawyer (8+ years PQE) to join our growing Corporate team.
This is a pivotal role for an experienced lawyer who thrives on transactional and corporate work, enjoys building strong client relationships and is motivated by the opportunity to play a meaningful role in the growth of a modern and ambitious law firm.
Working closely with the Head of Corporate, you will take ownership of sophisticated matters from end to end, act as a trusted adviser to clients, support the development of junior lawyers and contribute to the strategic growth of the Corporate practice.
You will be given significant autonomy and responsibility, with the expectation that you operate as a senior member of the team who can be relied upon to drive matters forward with minimal supervision.
Role Responsibilities
While not exhaustive, your work will span four key areas:
Delivery of Legal Work
- Lead and manage sophisticated corporate and transactional matters from commencement through to completion
- Structure, project manage and execute private mergers and acquisitions, including share and asset sale transactions
- Lead all stages of transactions — due diligence, transaction structuring, drafting and negotiating documentation, disclosure, completion and post-completion
- Advise founders, boards, shareholders and executive teams on strategic corporate matters and governance issues
- Advise on capital raising transactions across various stages of a business lifecycle
- Lead employee equity matters, including ESOPs and other incentive arrangements
- Support clients preparing for strategic exits, investment rounds and pre-IPO readiness
Client Leadership and Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong, trusted relationships with clients and key stakeholders
- Act as a strategic adviser to founders, executives, boards and in-house legal teams
- Anticipate client needs and proactively identify opportunities to add value
- Manage client expectations, budgets and timelines effectively
Business Development and Practice Growth
- Play an active role in the growth of the Corporate practice
- Identify and convert opportunities for new work through existing networks and market engagement
- Participate in networking events, industry initiatives, webinars and speaking opportunities
- Contribute to thought leadership initiatives, including articles, presentations and client updates
Leadership and Mentoring
- Provide guidance, mentoring and supervision to junior lawyers and team members
- Review and provide constructive feedback on work product to support technical development
- Lead by example and contribute positively to team culture
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Champion the use of technology and AI to enhance service delivery and streamline processes
- Contribute to the development and refinement of precedents, templates and knowledge resources
- Embrace innovative approaches that support the firm’s continued growth and differentiation
