JD Security is a national leader in Electronic Security, delivering advanced CCTV, Access Control, Alarm and Monitoring solutions across Australia and New Zealand.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Manager to join our Head Office Team based in Wetherill Park.

This newly established role will allow you to lead a team of experienced engineers who bring deep product and systems knowledge. Your job is to provide the management layer that is currently missing: governance, allocation, development, commercial performance and strategic alignment with the wider business.

Position Description:

  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead and develop a national team of systems and project engineers. Establish consistent ways of working, conduct performance reviews, manage workload allocation across competing state and national demands, and build knowledge redundancy across the team.
  • Sales Engineering Support: Partner with state sales representatives and Technical Managers on complex opportunities. Drive a shift toward software-led, SaaS, and managed service solutions, and contribute to proposals and customer presentations on major engagements.
  • Engineering Governance and Delivery Standards: Set and maintain technical standards, design principles, and documentation disciplines. Implement peer review processes and ensure engineering outputs are consistent regardless of which engineer delivers them.
  • Commercial Performance: Own the department’s commercial performance, including budget management, engineer utilisation and the development of managed services and SaaS revenue offerings. Report regularly on financial performance and pipeline contribution.
  • Customer and Partner Relationships: Maintain direct relationships with key accounts including. Develop and leverage relationships with technology partners and manufacturers.
  • Safety and Compliance: Instil a strong safety culture, ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards and industry regulations, and manage safety incidents and training requirements across the team.

Job Requirements:

    We are targeting candidates from an IT project management or engineering management background. You do not need to come from a traditional security or electrical trade background — the technical depth sits within the team. What we need is the leadership and governance capability above it.

  • Proven experience leading and developing technical teams, with a track record of building high-performing functions
  • Background in IT project management, engineering management, or a related discipline.
  • Strong commercial acumen: budget management, utilisation tracking, and an understanding of managed services or SaaS revenue models
  • Ability to hold technical credibility with experienced engineers without needing to be the most technical person in the room
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work across state teams, customers, and technology partners
  • Familiarity with electronic security, IT infrastructure, or integrated systems environments is an advantage but not essential
  • Experience using project or field service management platforms (e.g. SimPRO) is well regarded
