About the role
We are seeking an experienced Botanist to play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, trusted advice to clients across mining, oil & gas, land development and renewable energy. Contributing to a diverse portfolio of ecological projects spanning multiple industry sectors and botanical regions, you’ll get to apply your expertise where it matters most.
This role has a strong field-focus, offering the opportunity to work in some of Western Australia’s most remote and spectacular environments. When office-based, you’ll be located in the heart of the Perth CBD, working alongside a collaborative team of 60 environmental scientists. We offer diverse, challenging projects and genuine opportunities for ongoing professional development.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Designing, managing and leading botanical field surveys.
- Conducting ecological assessments and monitoring programs.
- Preparing ecological reports and providing technical advice and input on impact assessments.
- Engaging with Agencies and stakeholders.
- Managing client relationships, projects, budgets and timelines.
- Guiding and mentoring team members.
- Developing and improving standards and procedures to fit best practice.
- Assisting with strategic solutions and business development.
About you:
- A passion for, ability and willingness to do fieldwork, sometimes in remote locations away from Perth.
- Tertiary qualification (botany, environmental biology or equivalent).
- 5 years + experience undertaking botanical and ecological assessments in WA.
- Experience in survey design, leading of botanical surveys and project delivery.
- Excellent and accurate reporting writing skills.
- Experience in key legislation and Western Australian EPA guidelines (e.g. EPBC Act, EP Act WA, BC Act WA and administering agency guidelines)
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- GIS skills/experience highly desirable.
- Self-motivation and lots of enthusiasm.
- Holder of a current WA ‘C’ Class Driver’s License.
