We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team. 

This role is a great opportunity for a degree qualified mechanical engineer with 3+ years experience developing mechanical devices and manufacturing jigs, fixtures and production equipment, CAD proficiency and strong communication skills. Experience in QMS, ISO standards, product development, and manufacturing is advantageous.

About the role

Based in Collingwood, Australia, in this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical solutions, designing and testing engineering systems, creating CAD designs, and supporting manufacturing processes. Key tasks include technical documentation, maintenance support, product development, and defect resolution.


Key responsibilities

  • Mechanical engineering of new products and product updates within a stage gate design and development process.
  • Deliver high-quality mechanical solutions that meet business and regulatory standards.
  • Utilise CAD to create mechanical engineering files, such as 3D models, engineering drawings, 3D assemblies, 3D assembly drawings.
  • Independently action and manage Change Controls (CH), Corrective And Preventative Actions (CAPA), and planned Deviations (DV).
  • Technical writing, such as design descriptions, QC specifications and test plans.
  • Assist in the identification, evaluation and sustainment of supplier parts and services.
  • Provide support for product and production issues.
  • Experience in working with hand tools, such as building and assembling prototypes.
  • Identification of product requirements and process specifications.
  • Contribute to Reliability/Robustness/Defect resolution (e.g., root cause analysis).
  • Provide input to department budget planning.

Key selection criteria

Essential

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience developing mechanical devices and manufacturing jigs, fixtures, and production equipment.
  • Demonstrated CAD skills, including 3D Modelling, Engineering Drawings and 3D Assemblies.
  • Ability to apply sound engineering judgement in a dynamic environment, demonstrating adaptability, initiative, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced product development and production environment, with an emphasis on speed to market whilst maintaining high quality standards
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Highly Desirable

  • Experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS), ISO9001, ISO13485, Risk Analysis etc.
  • Experience in Biomed, Labtech industries.

Desirable

  • Experience with PDM and GD&T.
  • Experience across the product development lifecycle.
  • Excellent mechanical engineering aptitude and superior problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse and resolve complex issues.
  • Experience with a variety of manufacturing methods and working with suppliers.
  • Proficiency in generating technical documents.
  • Experience with sensors or actuators.
