The Role

The Systems Engineer will be responsible for conducting engineering activities across the project including JIC System, Common Item TDL procurement and AUSTIN capabilities. This requires working closely with the project execution team ensuring the project is supported and guided with engineering requirements for delivery and introduction into service of capability

About You

  • Sound understanding and application of Safety Case Management.
  • Supporting the Planning and Execution of the project engineering program.
  • Leading and managing a small team of shared engineering practitioners.
  • Participating and leading in engineering engagement with Industry
  • Contributing and governance of the requirement specifications, engineering (subordinate), system safety, configuration. management, risk management plans and project engineering strategy development for the project.
  • Coordinating with support of the engineering managers activities with internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Providing authoritative, balanced and reasoned engineering advice to the project leadership.
  • Developing formal correspondence and providing briefings on engineering activities to the project and leadership
  • Communicating risks associated with the engineering program.
  • Supporting or executing whole of system level certification activities.
  • Review for acceptance of contract deliverables as required
  • Providing mentoring, training and support to engineering managers, engineers and junior engineers as a trusted advisor.
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aeronautical etc Stage 1 or 2 professional engineering competencies as defined by Engineers Australia and recognised under the Washington Accord (Mandatory).
  • Minimum 3 years demonstrated experience in developing and managing project Engineering program(s) (Mandatory).
  • Demonstrated experience in developing Engineering plans, procedures and outcome reports. Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of conducting engineering programs in Defence acquisition projects (Desirable).
  • Knowledge of Tactical Data Links for communication (Desirable).
