The Role

We are currently seeking experienced Defence professionals for two exciting opportunities supporting major Australian Army capability programs based in Melbourne. These roles offer the chance to contribute to the delivery and sustainment of critical land capability within a complex and rewarding Defence environment.

Whether your expertise lies in project delivery and governance or technical configuration management and sustainment, both positions provide the opportunity to work alongside military, APS and industry stakeholders supporting capability outcomes that directly contribute to Army readiness and operational effectiveness.

Project Manager:

Based at Victoria Barracks Melbourne (VBM), this role will support the delivery of a significant logistics capability program within the Australian Army. Working within an established Project Management Office (PMO), you will play a key role in project planning, governance, reporting, scheduling, risk management and stakeholder engagement activities.

You will coordinate governance forums, maintain project schedules and documentation, monitor project performance, support workforce planning activities, and assist in the development of project plans, reports and other key project artefacts. The role will also provide opportunities to support procurement and contract management activities, contribute to stakeholder briefings, and assist with project risk and issue management.

This is a hands-on project management role requiring close collaboration with a broad range of military, APS and industry stakeholders to support successful project delivery.

Senior Technical Configuration Manager:

Based at Bandiana, Victoria, this role supports the sustainment and ongoing management of a major Australian Army vehicle fleet. Working within a technical sustainment environment, you will be responsible for managing configuration control processes, maintaining technical data and configuration records, and ensuring configuration integrity throughout the capability lifecycle.

You will oversee technical data packages, configuration baselines, change management activities and audit processes while providing technical advice to support sustainment, upgrade and capability enhancement activities. The role requires close collaboration with engineering, logistics, maintenance and operational stakeholders to ensure configuration information accurately reflects fleet readiness and supports Defence operational requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced configuration management professional to apply their technical expertise within a complex Defence sustainment environment while contributing to the ongoing effectiveness of a critical Army capability.

About You

Project Manager:

You are an experienced Project Management professional with a proven track record delivering or supporting complex projects within Defence, Government or similarly structured environments. You have strong experience working within project governance frameworks and PMO environments and are confident managing competing priorities while maintaining high-quality project outcomes.

You possess well-developed skills in project planning, scheduling, reporting, governance and risk management, with experience maintaining project documentation, action registers, integrated schedules and governance artefacts. Exposure to procurement, contract management or commercial support activities will be highly regarded.

You are an effective communicator with the ability to engage and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, from project teams through to senior leaders. Candidates with an understanding of Defence capability delivery, logistics programs, acquisition projects, or the transition of capability into service and sustainment will be highly regarded.

Senior Technical Configuration Manager:

You are an experienced Configuration Management professional with a strong background supporting Defence capability sustainment, engineering, asset management or technical data management activities. You possess a solid understanding of configuration management principles, change control processes, technical documentation and asset lifecycle management.

Ideally, you bring experience working within Defence land systems environments and have supported vehicle sustainment, engineering or maintenance programs. A mechanical trade background and experience working with heavy vehicles, armoured platforms or complex technical assets will be highly regarded.

You have demonstrated experience using configuration management systems and tools, maintaining technical data packages, conducting configuration audits and managing configuration records. Experience with tools such as Teamcenter, CMT-L, ERP systems or JIRA will be advantageous.

You are analytical, detail-oriented and highly organised, with strong written communication and documentation skills. You enjoy working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and are confident engaging with technical specialists, engineers, maintainers and stakeholders to support effective decision-making and capability outcomes.

Security Requirement:

Current NV1 Security Clearance required for both positions.
