THE ROLE
The Financial Accountant and Business Partner role is based out of our Nedlands and New East Perth Offices, which is easily accessible by public transport. This Role will be working within our dedicated, high performing Finance team. Working closely with our Management Accountant and Accounts Payable Officer, this role will ensure the accurate recording and reporting of all financial transactions. Another key aspect will be partnering with leaders in the business to achieve financial goals, through expert financial advice and guidance.
Main duties of the role include:
- Supporting the Finance Manager with financial and management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audit, compliance and statutory reporting
- Managing the general ledger, chart of accounts, reconciliations and month-end and year-end reporting requirements
- Overseeing accounts payable and receivable, fixed assets, BAS and FBT reporting, and tax and payroll support processes
- Providing financial advice, forecasting, modelling and business partnering support to managers and leaders across Corporate Services and other business areas
- Supporting financial statements, annual audit preparation, project audits, business planning and continuous improvement initiatives
- Coaching and upskilling stakeholders in best practice financial management and helping resolve financial issues with practical recommendations
THE CANDIDATE
We are looking for a capable and collaborative finance professional who brings strong technical accounting knowledge and can also partner effectively with leaders across the business. The right person will be confident working across financial reporting, compliance, budgeting and forecasting, while also providing practical advice, building strong relationships and contributing to continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a degree qualification in finance or a related discipline, with CA or CPA membership or significant relevant industry experience
- Bring at least 6 years’ experience in a similar finance or business partnering role, ideally with exposure across financial accounting, reporting and stakeholder support
- Have a sound understanding of Australian accounting standards, GST requirements and payroll practices
- Be highly capable in Excel and comfortable using accounting and financial management systems
- Be able to provide clear financial advice, forecasting, modelling and reporting support to managers and leaders
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, sound judgement and a continuous improvement mindset
- Have the ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders and communicate effectively across the organisation
- Be organised, adaptable and able to manage competing priorities and deadlines
