About:

Indigenous Shared Services Group (ISSG) is a partnership of Aboriginal businesses that co-invest, pool and share resources to help Aboriginal individuals, families and communities trade, invest and work together to create a self-determining economic future.

ISSG serves as the Manager for a number of Aboriginal companies. The Marketing and Communications Officer plays a key role in strengthening ISSG’s profile by delivering contemporary, engaging and culturally appropriate marketing and communications initiatives that promote ISSG, its member organisations and the Aboriginal businesses and communities it supports.

Overview of the position:

The position is responsible for managing digital communications, coordinating events and promotional activities, developing marketing and communication materials, and creating engaging content across a range of platforms. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, the role supports initiatives that enhance ISSG’s reputation, foster meaningful relationships, and showcase the achievements and impact of Aboriginal businesses and communities.

As ISSG’s dedicated Marketing and Communications Officer, this role is responsible for leading the organisation’s day-to-day marketing and communications function, working collaboratively across ISSG and its client companies to strengthen brand awareness, stakeholder engagement and business growth.

Responsibilities:

Marketing and Communications:

  • Develop, implement, coordinate and continuously improve marketing and communications initiatives that support ISSG’s strategic objectives and those of its client companies.
  • Promote ISSG and its client companies by increasing brand awareness, strengthening stakeholder engagement and showcasing Aboriginal business success.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to promote the services, achievements and capabilities of ISSG and its client companies.
  • Drive continuous improvement through innovative marketing initiatives and communication strategies.

Digital Communications:

  • Manage and continuously improve ISSG’s LinkedIn presence and the LinkedIn pages of client companies.
  • Develop, implement and maintain content calendars that support consistent and engaging digital communications.
  • Create engaging written, visual and multimedia content that strengthens brand awareness, supports business development and promotes Aboriginal business success.
  • Proactively source and develop content by working closely with internal stakeholders to identify projects, achievements,milestones and business opportunities.
  • Manage and maintain website content to ensure information remains current, accurate and aligned with organisational branding.
  • Monitor digital performance, audience engagement and emerging trends to improve organisational visibility.

Content Development:

  • Develop high-quality marketing and communication materials including capability statements, company profiles, newsletters,media releases, case studies, presentations, brochures and promotional resources.
  • Translate technical, operational and commercial information into engaging marketing content.
  • Coordinate photography, videography and graphic design to support marketing initiatives.
  • Ensure all communication materials align with ISSG’s branding, values and quality standards.

Brand Management:

  • Maintain and strengthen the ISSG brand and the brands of its client companies.
  • Ensure branding is applied consistently across digital platforms, publications, advertising, signage, promotional merchandise and corporate documentation.
  • Coordinate the design, production and procurement of marketing and promotional materials.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Aboriginal businesses, client companies and internal and external stakeholders to understand business activities, identify marketing opportunities and promote organisational achievements.
  • Represent ISSG at networking events, conferences,exhibitions and community engagement activities as required.

Marketing Campaigns and Events:

  • Coordinate marketing campaigns that support business development, recruitment and stakeholder engagement.
  • Plan, coordinate and promote corporate events,sponsorship’s, conferences, exhibitions and community engagement activities.
  • Evaluate campaign and event outcomes and event outcomes and recommend opportunities for improvement.


Research and Continuous Improvement:

  • Monitor industry trends, digital marketing developments and best practice to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and report on website, LinkedIn and campaign performance.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of marketing systems, processes and resources.

Business and Corporate Services Support:

  • Work closely with the Business Operations Coordinator to support organisational priorities, strategic initiatives and business improvement projects.
  • Act as ISSG’s primary marketing and communications resource, providing advice, support and guidance across the organisation and its client companies.
  • Support the Receptionist/Administration Assistant where required.
  • Undertake other duties consistent with the level and responsibilities of the position.

Job related requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in a marketing, communications, public relations or similar role.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications, public relations or a related discipline (desirable).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Planner, Lists, etc.) and experience using Canva or similar digital design applications.
  • Demonstrated experience managing digital communications, including LinkedIn business pages and website content.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and take ownership of marketing and communications activities with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Creative, proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and identify opportunities to improve marketing and communications.
