George’s Cellars, part of the independently owned Ice Box Liquor Group, is continuing to grow with the opening of our newest store in Woollahra.

This exciting opportunity is perfect for an experienced retail leader who is passionate about liquor retail, customer service, and building high-performing teams.

George’s Cellars stores are designed to provide a welcoming and intimate shopping experience for customers who appreciate quality products, expert advice, and personalised service. Our stores offer a carefully selected range of premium products alongside a strong selection of mainstream and moderately priced wines, beers, and spirits. Knowledgeable and friendly service is at the heart of everything we do.

We are looking for a Store Manager with strong liquor industry knowledge, commercial acumen, and the ability to build relationships with suppliers, wholesalers, and customers while leading a successful and engaged team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales performance while maintaining budgets across labour, stock on hand, and GP%
  • Build, mentor, and develop a motivated, high-performing team
  • Demonstrate passion and knowledge for fine wine through customer engagement and team education
  • Maintain exceptional merchandising and presentation standards that complement a strong promotional program
  • Work closely with suppliers and wholesalers to deliver an industry leading product range
  • Ensure a premium in-store experience that reflects the George’s Cellars brand
  • Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service and team culture

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience managing a liquor store, or strong transferable retail management experience
  • Strong wine knowledge, with the ability to educate and upskill team members
  • Experience working directly with suppliers and wholesalers within the liquor industry
  • Understanding of promotional programs, budgeting, and effective purchasing practices
  • Strong attention to detail across merchandising, presentation, and store standards
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop a successful team
  • A passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences
  • A genuine love for premium liquor retail and hospitality culture
