The Role
We are seeking an experienced Instrument Flight Procedure (IFP) Design Reviewer to support a specialist Defence aviation capability. Working remotely as part of a highly skilled team, you will review and assess Instrument Flight Procedures, ensuring compliance with contemporary aviation design standards while supporting safe and effective military aviation operations.
This role is ideal for an aviation professional with strong PANS-OPS experience who enjoys technical problem-solving, detailed analysis and working within a regulated Defence environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review Instrument Flight Procedure (IFP) designs and charts using FPDAM software.
- Conduct technical reviews of new, amended and existing IFP designs, with a forecast workload of approximately 60–90 charts over a 12-month period.
- Assess procedures against current ICAO PANS-OPS requirements
- Produce comprehensive design review reports, including findings, recommendations and supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of design decisions and technical assessments.
- Provide FPDAM files and supporting artefacts associated with review activities.
- Support aviation-related tasking and priorities within often challenging timeframes.
- Liaise with stakeholders to discuss review outcomes and support implementation of recommended changes.
- Contribute to the safe, compliant and effective delivery of aviation navigation services within a
Defence environment.
About You
- Demonstrated experience in Instrument Flight Procedure design, review or aeronautical engineering.
- Strong understanding of ICAO PANS-OPS principles and associated aviation safety requirements.
- Experience producing technical reports
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- Experience working within highly regulated aviation or Defence environments.
- FPDAM experience and associated training.
- Senior Design Engineer Authority or equivalent aviation design accreditation.
- Experience supporting Defence aviation capability or military air operations.
- Understanding of Defence procurement, governance or capability sustainment environments.
- Previous experience conducting technical assurance or independent design reviews.
Additional Information
Contract commencement: June 2026.
Location: Remote working arrangement available.
Travel: Occasional travel may be required.
Security Clearance: Current NV1 (Negative Vetting Level 1) clearance required.
