Description

Welcome to HotDoc 👋

Founded in Melbourne in 2012, HotDoc is Australia’s largest patient engagement platform — connecting over 10 million patients with more than 21,000 practitioners across GPs, Allied Health, Dental, Specialists and Optometrists. Our platform handles millions of healthcare interactions every day, and the engineering behind it has to be reliable, secure and scalable.

We’re a scale-up at heart — we move quickly, take real ownership, and care deeply about the work. We’re now looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join one of our engineering teams in a permanent role.

Help us improve healthcare for everyone in Australia.

At HotDoc, we’re improving the way patients and doctors communicate — building products that have a real impact on patient health outcomes. Our Growth function is a standalone team that embeds engineers directly into its mission-based teams, and we’re looking for a Growth Engineer to own the experimentation that moves our missions forward.

What you’ll be doing

  • Own the experimentation loop in your team — take growth bets from hypothesis to readout: frame the bet, ship the smallest version that tests it, instrument it, and interpret the results yourself in SQL and dashboards.
  • Work backwards from the growth model — trace every bet to the input metric it moves, alongside your Growth PM.
  • Harden what works into durable product, and cleanly retire what doesn’t, so experiment debt doesn’t pile up.
  • Help shape what an AI-first growth function looks like — turning one-off solutions into reusable workflows the whole team builds on.
  • Ship safely: feature-flagged, reversible experiments with guardrail metrics defined up front, treating patient trust, consent and privacy as design constraints.

What you’ll bring

  • 4+ years of software engineering experience and a track record of shipping production features at pace.
  • An AI-first way of working — you’ve used Claude, Codex or equivalents and can speak to the leverage they gave you.
  • Full-stack fundamentals, plus the judgment to know when AI is the fastest path and when a problem needs human expertise.
  • A feel for growth accounting (North Star and input metrics, guardrails, cadence) and hands-on experience with A/B testing, feature flagging and analytics instrumentation.
  • Comfort with ambiguity — you don’t need things to settle down to do your best work
  • Clear, proactive communication, and the maturity to roll back your own work when the data says so.

Nice to have

  • Growth-focused or B2C product experience;
  • Healthcare or another regulated/sensitive domain;
  • Tools like GrowthBook, Amplitude, Mixpanel or Metabase;
  • Ruby on Rails experience;
  • Personalisation or lifecycle/recommendation systems.
