About the role
Join our Perth-based Resources & Energy team as a Senior Associate. You will be part of a collaborative, high‑performing projects and commercial work group with exposure to some of the most dynamic work in the energy and resources sector. This role offers both breadth of experience and the opportunity to build a meaningful specialisation aligned to your interests and strengths.
- Work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team advising across mining, oil and gas, renewable energy and native title
- Be mentored by three recognised partners, each providing strong technical guidance and support
- Join a team known for its supportive, collaborative culture
- Gain broad exposure across practice areas, with the opportunity to develop a specialisation aligned to your interests and capabilities
- Advise on interesting and complex matters for mid to large Australian clients across WA and QLD, including:
- Mining company acquisitions and divestments, due diligence, farm-in, joint ventures, split commodity and royalty agreements, land access, native title and heritage negotiations.
- Upstream and midstream oil & gas projects, including project development, joint ventures and long-term commercial arrangements.
- Decarbonisation projects, supporting some of Australia’s largest companies as they reduce emissions
- Renewable energy matters, including utility‑scale developments, BESS, and green development projects for traditional owner groups
About You
You are an experienced and motivated Senior
Associate who enjoys working on complex matters, building strong client
relationships and contributing to a supportive team environment. You will also bring:
- At least five years’ post‑admission experience
- Demonstrated experience at Senior Associate level in one or more of mining, oil and gas, renewable energy or native title, within an Australian or overseas law firm
- A genuine motivation to expand your knowledge and expertise, with the flexibility to engage across new work areas
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to lead discrete project components and deliver high‑quality client outcomes
- Proven ability to build trusted client relationships through clear communication, responsiveness and professional judgement
- A collaborative, team‑oriented mindset, with a commitment to mentoring and supporting junior lawyers
