Purpose of the Role
The Equipment Manager – Sydney
Flames exists to deliver an exceptional player experience at training and at
home games. Players and coaches should walk into every training session and
every home game and find the environment already set: court ready, kit clean
and distributed, equipment in place, and the locker room and bench prepared.
When the environment around the team is seamless, players can give everything
to performance.
The role is the hands-on owner
of the Flames’ daily training environment and home game support, working to
priorities set by the AGM – Basketball Operations (Sydney Flames). The quality
of this role is measured in what players experience every day: a professional,
high performance environment, delivered reliably and to a consistently high
standard.
Key Accountabilities
Daily Training Environment
- Deliver daily court setup, water, towels, and
cleanliness for every training session, so players arrive to a fully prepared
environment
- Maintain accurate equipment inventory and flag needs to
the AGM
- Manage laundry for training and game day so players
always have clean kit
- Distribute uniforms and kit to players and staff
- Manage court and gym bookings
Game Day (Home)
- Support the AGM with the set up the locker room, bench,
and equipment ahead of team arrival, every home game
- Provide food, snacks, and consumables for players and
staff
- Assist the AGM to pack down and reset after each home
game
Player and Coach Support
- Act as the player and coach point of contact for
equipment, kit, and training environment issues
- Keep Teamworks updated for training environment matters
within the role’s remit, in coordination with the AGM
- Prepare and pack all kit and equipment before the team
departs for away games

Some of the success measures for
this role include:

Player experience: Players never have to think
about kit, equipment, or the training environment. Every session and every home
game is fully set up before they arrive

Training environment: The court, equipment,
water, towels, and clean kit are ready for every session without prompting,
every day of the season

Home game delivery: The locker room, bench, and
equipment are set up complete and correct before the team arrives, at every
home game

Kit and inventory: No player or staff member is
ever short of kit or equipment; inventory is accurate and needs are flagged to
the AGM early

Bookings: Court and gym bookings are confirmed
well in advance with no clashes or lost sessions

Away game preparation: The team departs for
every away game with all kit and equipment fully prepared and packed
Working Arrangements
The Sydney Kings (NBL) and Sydney Flames (WNBL) seasons
run from September to April. This period represents the peak operational window
for the business and is generally a block-out period for annual leave. The role
requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends to support game day
operations and other scheduled events during season. Reasonable additional
hours may be required during peak periods, including game days, events,
campaign launches, major announcements and other business-critical activities.
A Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) policy applies to approved additional hours worked.
