Description

Established in 1967, Vasse Felix is Margaret River’s founding wine estate and the custodian of the region’s first Cabernet Sauvignon plantings. With a focus on the regional strengths of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, our modern production facility located near Cowaramup processes around 1,800 tonnes from our estate vineyards, guided by a minimalist winemaking philosophy.

Vasse Felix Winery is now recruiting:

  • Permanent Winery Cellar Assistant: An ongoing position suited to an experienced cellar operator, or a motivated applicant looking to build a long-term career in winery operations. This role will support day-to-day cellar operations throughout the year, including before, during and after vintage. A minimum 12-month commitment is required.

  • 2027 Vintage Winery Cellar Assistants: Fixed-term vintage positions supporting the winery team during the 2027 harvest period. These roles are expected to run for up to 10 weeks between February and April and are suited to applicants with vintage or winery experience who are available for seasonal work, longer hours and shift-based operations during harvest. Opportunities for extended work beyond vintage may be available where operational needs allow.

About the role Working under the direction of a Winemaker or Supervisor, our Winery Cellar Assistants carry out cellar operations and maintain cellar equipment to a high standard. The roles support the weekly work program while meeting production goals, quality expectations and safety requirements.

Successful applicants will help maintain a safe, orderly, functional and highly presentable cellar, while ensuring wine quality and processing procedures are followed to the highest standard. These are hands-on roles requiring strong attention to detail, teamwork and a commitment to safe, high-quality cellar operations and must be competent in forklift operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform cellar operations safely, efficiently and to Vasse Felix standards.
  • Maintain high cellar hygiene standards, including HACCP requirements.
  • Care for winery equipment, cellar consumables and associated work areas.
  • Complete cellar notes, SOP records, incident reports and other documentation accurately.
  • Maintain a safe workplace and comply with health and safety requirements.
  • Protect wine quality and volume to the highest standard.
  • Contribute to a safe, respectful and productive cellar team culture.
  • Provide occasional laboratory support as required.

About you You will be a dynamic and enthusiastic person with strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality outcomes. You will work closely with the winemaking team to achieve production goals and will be comfortable working longer hours during grape harvest, on either a rotating or fixed shift basis. A sound understanding of winery equipment and maintenance issues, together with strong communication and record-keeping skills, will be highly regarded.
