About the role
The Community Awareness and Engagement Officer is part of
the Armidale headspace service team. Their purpose is to promote
the services of the headspace centre, help young people to
get early access to health and other services, and promote positive
mental health messaging within their local communities.
Key responsibilities
- Provide information to young people and their
families presenting to headspace, including at community events.
- Develop and maintain positive and effective working
relationships with a broad range of people and organisations.
- Recruit, train, supervise and support young people to be
involved in the headspace Youth Advisory Group and/or other groups
targeting young people.
- Work closely with the headspace team to ensure that
the views of young people are integrated into service planning and service
delivery.
- Build relationships with external service providers and
community partners to develop opportunities for mutually beneficial
partnerships that progress headspace toward its objectives in the local
community.
About you
- Minimum relevant Certificate IV or demonstrated
experience in communications /stakeholder engagement
- Ability to work autonomously with
high-level written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple and
competing work tasks and deliver to agreed deadlines.
- Experience and ability to use a range of mediums to
connect with audiences including social media, groups and presentations
- Experience in the youth and/or mental health
sector.
- A broad understanding of the mental health service
system in Australia.
- A broad understanding of the primary care health
system in Australia.
- Ability to think creatively and develop innovative
solutions to problems.
- High attention to detail
- Positive and collaborative team player.
