The Role

We are looking for an experienced Health, Safety and Environment Coordinator who will support us in successfully delivering in the Port Macquarie and surrounding regions. 

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Promote a proactive safety culture through regular engagement with workers, subcontractors and the Client, including hazard identification, safety observations, coaching and reinforcement of Haslin’s Safe As Essentials. 
  • Facilitate worker consultation through site-specific inductions, toolbox talks and other consultation processes in accordance with the Project Safety Management Plan (PSMP). 
  • Assist in the development, review and implementation of Project Safety Management Plans (PSMP), Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), risk assessments, toolbox talks, daily pre-starts and other WHS documentation prior to and throughout the duration of the project. 
  • Review and update consultation arrangements as the project progresses or where significant changes to the Project Safety Management Plan, scope of works or site conditions occur.   
  • Conduct incident investigations, including identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions and monitoring close-out requirements. 
  • Monitor subcontractor compliance.
  • Verify plant, equipment and operator competency requirements. 
  • Coordinate, facilitate and monitor WHS training and competency requirements for project personnel and subcontractors.
  • Participate in scheduled internal and external audits and inspections to monitor compliance with the PSMP, WHS legislation and environmental requirements, and work with project teams to implement corrective actions where required. 
  • Monitor and report against project-specific WHS objectives, lead and lag indicators, and safety performance targets, and assist in the preparation of monthly HSEQ reports and project safety statistics. 

 

About you

You are an experienced Heath, Safety and Environment professional with a passion for working with construction teams to ensure that work is delivered safety, on time and under budget.  You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in civil infrastructure (3-5 years), which could include water and / or sewerage treatment plants, industrial buildings, or other complex infrastructure projects.  
  • Strong team focus, consultation and communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation, construction industry standards, codes of practice, and industry best practices.  
  • Experience in the development, implementation, maintenance, and auditing of HSEQ Management Systems.  
  • Well-developed incident investigation, root cause analysis, and report writing skills.  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with Haslin Constructions personnel, subcontractors, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications.
