Harbison Overview
Harbison is a charitable, community-owned, not-for-profit organisation that provides residential and non-residential care and support services for aged or disabled people, including a range of support services and systems to assist aged and disabled people to achieve maximum independence and integration within a residential or community setting, education and training of professionals and
other care providers, and activities which are incidental or conducive to these objectives.
Currently, Harbison is an approved aged care provider, registered NDIS provider, approved childcare provider, retirement village owner, and one of the largest employers in the Southern Highlands. Harbison is governed by a Board of Directors which appoints a Chief Executive Officer who is delegated with day-to-day responsibility for the organisation.
Primary purpose of the role
The Wellness Assistant supports the delivery of services and experiences that enhance the Wellness,
dignity and quality of life of Harbison residents. Working within Harbison’s Beauty and Wellness team, the role assists in creating a welcoming, engaging and resident-centred environment where residents can access services that promote confidence, comfort, relaxation and social connection.
As an adaptable and hands-on team member, the Wellness Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the Beauty and Wellness team, assisting with a range of resident services and activities, and contributing to the ongoing development of wellness offerings in line with resident preferences and organisational priorities.
All duties are performed in accordance with Harbison’s values, policies, procedures and workplace health and safety requirements.
Key Accountabilities
- Assist in the delivery of beauty and wellness services and experiences that support residents’ physical, emotional, social and personal Wellness.
- Provide a welcoming and positive experience for residents attending the wellness space and associated services.
- Support residents to access appointments, services and activities in a safe, respectful and dignified manner.
- Prepare service areas, equipment and materials to ensure services can be delivered efficiently and professionally.
- Maintain a clean, organised and inviting environment that promotes resident comfort and Wellness.
- Clean, sanitise and store equipment, tools and resources in accordance with infection prevention and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Assist with appointment scheduling, bookings and administrative tasks as required including documenting services provided to residents.
- Undertake basic Hair Dressing services as directed by the hairdresser or manager as requested within the scope training and competence.
- Monitor stock levels of supplies and notify the appropriate person when replenishment is required.
- Build positive and meaningful relationships with residents, families, visitors and colleagues.
- Observe and report any resident concerns, feedback or changes in wellness to the appropriate team member.
- Support the implementation of new wellness initiatives and services as they are introduced.
- Contribute ideas and feedback to enhance the resident experience and continuously improve wellness offerings.
- Promote resident choice, independence and participation in all interactions and services.
- Adhere to Harbison’s policies, procedures, values and Code of Conduct at all times.
- Participate in mandatory training, meetings and continuous improvement activities as required.
- Any other reasonable duties requested within your scope.

Requirements
- Experience in customer service, Wellness, lifestyle, hospitality, aged care, health, beauty, recreation or a similar service-focused environment is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and engage effectively with older people.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A genuine commitment to enhancing the wellness and quality of life of residents.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Well-developed organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to adapt to changing service offerings and resident needs.
- Understanding of person-centred care principles and resident choice.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and workplace health and safety practices, or willingness to undertake training.
- Ability to maintain resident confidentiality and privacy.
- NDIS workers check.
