Harbison is a charitable, community-owned, not-for-profit organisation that provides a range of care and support services, including aged care, disability support, and retirement living. Harbison is also the parent organisation of Harbison Early Learning, which offers high-quality childcare services, including Out of School Hours Care (OOSHC), as part of its intergenerational programs. 

While Harbison employs the Early Childhood Educator directly, the role involves a secondment arrangement with Harbison Early Learning to deliver childcare services. This unique structure allows Harbison to support the operations of its subsidiary while fostering meaningful connections between children and aged care residents through intergenerational programs. 

Primary Purpose of the Role 

As an Early Childhood Educator, you will contribute to creating a stimulating, caring, and happy environment for children, supporting positive outcomes under the National Quality Framework, Regulations, and National Law. You will also have the opportunity to engage with Harbison’s intergenerational programs, fostering connections between children and aged care residents. 

Key Accountabilities 

  • Collaborate with the room senior educator in the development and delivery of learning programs in line with the My Time, Our Place Framework and the service philosophy. 
  • Ensure compliance with the National Quality Framework, relevant regulations, and National Law. 
  • Build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with children, families, residents, and colleagues. 
  • Actively participate in intergenerational activities, fostering meaningful experiences for both children and residents. 
  • Demonstrate professionalism, kindness, and respect in all interactions and conduct. 
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for children. 
  • Commit to ongoing professional development and adhere to the Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics. 
  • Handle all information shared during parent and staff conversations or phone calls with confidentiality, ensuring it is promptly and respectfully communicated to the appropriate individuals. 
  • Contribute to the service’s Quality Improvement Plan and participate in policy reviews to support continuous improvement. 

Qualifications and Requirements 

  • Certificate III or IV in Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent) or actively working towards this qualification as per Regulation 10 of the Education and Care Services Regulation. 
  • Current First Aid Certificate, including CPR, Anaphylaxis, and Emergency Asthma Management training (approved by ACECQA). 
  • Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check. 
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to the Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics. 
  • Commitment to completing workplace training in both aged care and childcare.

Additional Information 

Please note that this position is employed directly by Harbison, with a secondment arrangement to Harbison Early Learning. Current Influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations are required for employment.
