THE ROLE

An exciting new opportunity exists for an experienced and motivated Nightshift Operations Manager to join the Hallett Group Transport team. Reporting to the General Manager Transport & Logistics, you will play a key role in overseeing and leading the nightshift transport operations. You will maintain strong service delivery across internal and external stakeholders, lead safety initiatives and incident responses, maintain compliance for fatigue management, audits and training, manage employee performance, and contribute to continuous improvement across the transport function.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Lead and model safe work behaviours across night shift operations and ensure hazards, incidents and near misses are reported and addressed promptly
  • Drive team compliance with WHS, environmental and heavy vehicle legislative requirements
  • Provide visible leadership and be the key point of escalation for driver issues, service interruptions and operational incidents
  • Manage night shift staffing, overtime, fatigue considerations and workforce coverage to maintain safe service delivery
  • Support effective communication and handover between day and night operations teams
  • Design, implement and monitor compliance systems, audits, risk assessments and corrective actions relevant to shift-based operations
  • Support customer satisfaction by maintaining safe, compliant and efficient transport operations
  • Lead and support NHVR compliance training and driver capability development
  • Coordinate operational resources and asset availability to maintain continuity across the night shift
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen safety, communication and performance

QUALIFICATIONS | EXPERIENCE | CAPABILITIES

  • Leadership experience in transport, logistics or supply chain operations
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in business, leadership, training, assessment or a related field preferred
  • Strong working understanding of National Heavy Vehicle Regulations and Law (NHVR, NHVL), Mass and Fatigue Management, PBS (Performance Based Standards), Chain of Responsibility, WHS obligations, People leadership, and customer management
  • Ability to lead teams, manage performance, support recruitment and onboarding, and build a positive safety culture
  • Proven experience supporting fatigue management, incident escalation and operational risk controls
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence, coach and engage stakeholders
  • Current MC driver’s licence required
