Having recently been awarded the RACGP Queensland General Practice of the year, we are excited to be launching a new model of care for patients in the local community – Oxley Medicare Urgent Care Clinic. This role is an exciting opportunity for a hybrid role working in clinical research trial co located with Oxley Urgent Care. Ideally suited to someone with Urgent Care experience or similar and a desire for variety in their work week. This role is Sunday-Thursday Fixed term 3mth with possibility of extension.

As an Urgent Care Clinic practice nurse you will play a pivotal role. This role is the first contact for point for triage, and provides frontline care for patients at our Urgent Care Clinic, working closely with the General Practitioners. Key Responsibilities

As a core member of our Urgent Care team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking comprehensive triage assessment of all patients
  • Prioritise patient pathways for the urgent care clinical team (triage dependent)
  • Collaboratively delivering patient-centred care 
  • Contribute to achieving positive clinical outcomes
  • Providing essential health education to patients as neede
  • Thriving in a fast paced, dynamic clinical environment
  • Ensuring meticulous and timely completion of all documentation and program deliverable
  • Following up patient care to ensure link with usual GP.
  • Supported by clinical trials coordinator you will be responsible for recruiting and consenting trial participants.
  • Performing trial testing

Requirements of the role

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (non-restricted)
  • Ideally 2 year’s + triage experience, in an emergency department (preferred but not essential) or GP experience with advanced urgent care skills
  • Experience working within a triage environment
  • ALS and APLS (or willingness to attain)
  • Experience in recognising and appropriately responding to health deterioration in a clinical setting
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, paired with keen critical thinking
  • The ability to work autonomously and work as part of an integrated urgent care team to facilitate change and growth 
  • Operating hours are 8am to 10pm 7 days a week including public holidays. Shift loading applies where applicable. This role is Sunday-Thursday Full time hours.
  • Clinical trials experience beneficial.

Reporting to our UCC Clinical Nurse and our Director of Nursing, and clinical trials coordinator, this is an great role for an RN who possesses excellent communication and leadership skills, is proactive and has a passion for primary and urgent health care. You will join our strong and friendly team of 10+ nurses across our clinics who all get together regularly. 

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong primary healthcare foundation, be proactive and flexible, and commit to patient and community care.
