Location: Dulwich Hill, Coogee, Burwood & surrounding suburbs, NSW Type: Casual & Part Time Position: Support Worker – Supported Independent Living (SIL) & Community Participation

Summary

Golden Heart Services is seeking compassionate and reliable Support Workers to join our growing team across Inner West and Eastern Suburbs locations.

This role involves supporting individuals with psychosocial disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and autism in both Supported Independent Living (SIL) and community settings.

We are looking for individuals who are calm, emotionally resilient, and committed to delivering person-centred, trauma-informed care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide emotional, behavioural, and physical support to participants
  • Assist with daily living activities including personal care, hygiene, and meal preparation
  • Support participants with community access, appointments, and skill-building activities
  • Administer medication in line with care plans and training
  • Implement positive behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques
  • Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes
  • Communicate effectively with families, support coordinators, and clinical teams
  • Monitor and report changes in participant wellbeing or behaviour
  • Promote a safe, consistent, and supportive environment

Key Requirements

  • Current First Aid & CPR certification
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid driver’s licence (strongly preferred)
  • Availability across a rotating roster including weekdays and a mix of shift types
  • Willingness to work across SIL and Community Participation supports

Desired Experience & Skills

  • Experience supporting individuals with: Psychosocial disabilities (mental health) Intellectual disability and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Trauma-informed care and complex behaviours Co-occurring presentations (e.g. mental health and substance use)
  • Strong behavioural support and de-escalation skills
  • Medication administration competency (highly desirable)
  • Manual handling and personal care experience
  • Understanding of NDIS Practice Standards and Code of Conduct

Qualifications

  • Minimum: High School Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Preferred: Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, or Community Services
  • Further study in disability, mental health, or related fields is advantageous
