Description

Godolphin – one of the world’s leading thoroughbred breeding and racing operations, invites applications for an experienced Stallion Groom to join the Darley Stallion Team at Northwood Park in Victoria for the 2026 breeding season.

Reporting to the Stallion Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day care and welfare of resident stallions, supporting all aspects of the covering process and maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism and horse husbandry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high quality of care and handling of stallions during the covering process
  • Undertake routine breeding procedures and daily stallion barn duties
  • Conduct regular health checks, monitor horse health and welfare, identify and report any health concerns
  • Assist with feeding and exercise regimes on a daily basis
  • Communicate effectively and contribute positively within a team environment
  • Comply with all organisational policies, procedures and safety standards

You are a capable, confident and dedicated horse professional who thrives in a fast-paced breeding environment. You bring strong attention to detail, excellent horsemanship and a commitment to maintaining Godolphin’s values of excellence, teamwork, integrity and respect.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with stallions in a breeding environment
  • Excellent horse handling skills, with sound knowledge and practical experience handling and caring for working thoroughbred stallions
  • Demonstrated experience assisting with the covering process
  • Strong commitment to safety, risk management and best-practice animal welfare
  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible to work weekends, early mornings and evenings as required.
