GEGAC is seeking a Payroll
and Financial Control Lead to oversee end-to-end payroll and related finance
functions. You’ll ensure payroll is accurate, compliant, and delivered on time,
while providing strong financial oversight, reporting, and control. This is a
key role driving process improvement across payroll, HR, and finance in a
supportive, purpose-driven organisation.

GEGAC is an Aboriginal
Community Controlled Organisation based in Bairnsdale Victoria. Consisting of
about 200 staff, GEGAC is a Not-for-Profit organisation that delivers holistic
services in the areas of Primary Health, Social Services, Elders &
Disability and Early Childhood Education.
GEGAC advocates for the
self-determination of the Aboriginal community by prioritising services that
enhance social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing, with culture at the heart
of everything we do.
Position Purpose
The Payroll & Financial Control Lead
is responsible for the end-to-end integrity, accuracy, and compliance of
GEGAC’s payroll function, acting as the organisation’s central control point
for payroll-related financial obligations. The role ensures payroll is
processed accurately, on time, and in compliance with industrial instruments,
taxation, and superannuation legislation. The position also maintains
payroll-related financial controls, reconciliations, and reporting, and
supports continuous improvement of payroll systems and processes.

with the ability to provide clear, practical compliance advice to non-technical
stakeholders.

staying up to date with changes in payroll, legislation, and data trends.
Qualifications and Registrations
Requirement (Essential or Desirable).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience processing payroll
across multiple awards Essential
- Demonstrated expertise in payroll compliance and
award interpretation Essential
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, PAYG,
and superannuation Essential
- Experience in payroll reconciliation, reporting,
and variance analysis Essential
- Advanced Excel and payroll systems capability Essential
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Payroll Desirable
- Experience in complex or multi-program organisations Desirable
- Experience transitioning payroll in-house Desirable
- Eligible
to work in Australia Essential
- A valid Australian Driver’s licence Essential
- Satisfactory Working with Children Check and
Fit2Work Police Check Essential
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination to align with GEGAC
requirements Essential
- A person of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait
Islander background Desirable
