Description

Dala Yooro Kindergarten is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Casual Teachers to join our team in 2026.

Organisational Profile

GEGAC is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation based in Bairnsdale Victoria. Consisting of about 200 staff, GEGAC is a Not-for-Profit organisation that delivers holistic services in the areas of Primary Health, Social Services, Elders & Disability and Early Childhood Education.

GEGAC advocates for the self-determination of the Aboriginal community by prioritising services that enhance social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing, with culture at the heart of everything we do.

 

Position Purpose

The Casual Early Childhood Teacher plays an important role in ensuring children and families continue to receive high-quality, culturally safe, inclusive and responsive kindergarten experiences when regular teaching staff are unavailable. Through the delivery of engaging play-based learning programs, the position supports children’s learning, wellbeing, cultural identity and development while contributing to GEGAC’s commitment to strengthening Aboriginal children, families and communities.

The Casual Early Childhood Teacher promotes a safe, inclusive and culturally responsive environment that respects and values diversity, including people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and intersex variations. The position provides educational leadership within the kindergarten room, supports positive outcomes for children and families, and maintain compliance with all relevant legislative, regulatory and organisational requirements.

 

Key Selection Criteria

·Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal culture and the ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal children, families and communities.

·Demonstrated experience delivering high-quality early childhood education programs.

·Sound understanding of the EYLF, VEYLDF, National Quality Framework and Child Safe Standards.

·Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, staff and community members.

·Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills, strong organisational and time management abilities, and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications and electronic documentation systems.

 

Qualifications and Registrations Requirement (Essential or Desirable).

·Approved Early Childhood Teaching qualification recognised by ACECQA and the Education and Care Services National Law    ESSENTIAL

·Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration, or eligibility to obtain and maintain registration throughout employment    ESSENTIAL

·A satisfactory Working with Children Check and Fit2Work Police Check    ESSENTIAL

·A person of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander background    DESIRABLE

·Proof of COVID-19 vaccinated to align with GEGAC requirements    ESSENTIAL
