Organisational Profile
GEGAC is an Aboriginal
Community Controlled Organisation based in Bairnsdale Victoria. Consisting of
about 200 staff, GEGAC is a Not-for-Profit organisation that delivers holistic
services in the areas of Primary Health, Social Services, Elders &
Disability and Early Childhood Education.
GEGAC advocates for the
self-determination of the Aboriginal community by prioritising services that
enhance social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing, with culture at the heart
of everything we do.
Position Purpose
The Dala Yooro Advance Education Assistant will
contribute to the delivery of a high-quality early childhood education program
by implementing and supporting the planning and evaluation of learning
experiences, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children, and building
strong, culturally respectful relationships with families and community, while
working collaboratively with the Early Childhood Teacher, Early Years Senior
Manager and team.
Key Selection Criteria
·Demonstrated understanding of and
commitment to Aboriginal culture with the ability liaise with and support the
local community.
·Demonstrated experience contributing to
the planning implementation and evaluation of early childhood education programs
in line with approved frameworks, including use of intentional teaching
strategies.
·Proven ability to undertake
observations, documentation and assessment for learning, and contribute to
planning cycles and critical reflection.
·Sound knowledge of child safety,
including active supervision, risk management and duty of care, with the
ability to identify and respond to concerns in line with legislation and
organisational requirements.
·Demonstrated capacity to lead elements
of the educational program, work with a high degree of autonomy, and exercise initiative
and sound judgement in daily practice.
·Ability to work collaboratively within
a team environment, including providing guidance, support or informal mentoring
to other educators and contributing to a culture or reflective practice.
·Well-developed communication and
organisational skills, including the ability to maintain accurate records,
engage professionally with stakeholders, and uphold high standards of ethical
and professional conduct.
Qualifications and Registrations
Requirement (Essential or Desirable).
·Valid Victorian driver’s licence ESSENTIAL
·Diploma of Early Childhood Education ESSENTIAL
·A satisfactory Working with Children
Check and Fit2Work Police Check ESSENTIAL
·A person of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander
background DESIRABLE
·Proof of COVID-19 vaccinated to align with GEGAC
requirements ESSENTIAL
