GEGAC Dental is seeking a
motivated and reliable Dental Assistant to join our busy and rewarding
Aboriginal Primary Health Care team. This role offers the opportunity to work

delivers holistic services in the areas of Primary Health, Social Services,
Elders & Disability and Early Childhood Education.

Position
Purpose
The GEGAC
Dental Assistant plays a key role in supporting the delivery of culturally
safe, high-quality oral health services to Aboriginal community in/around the
Bairnsdale and East Gippsland region. The role contributes to improved oral
health outcomes through clinical support, client engagement, infection
prevention, care coordination and administrative assistance.
All
clinical activities are undertaken under the direction and supervision of an
appropriately qualified oral health clinician and within the scope of practice
of a Dental Assistant.
Key Selection Criteria
Knowledge & Understanding:
·A demonstrated interest in, and
understand of, Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing principles and the value and
role of Aboriginal Health Services.
·Knowledge of infection prevention and
sterilisation standards.
Skills
& Experience:
·Demonstrated dental assisting
experience in a clinical environment and knowledge and understanding of contemporary
dental techniques.
·Strong interpersonal and communication
skills especially with Aboriginal community and families.
·Ability to maintain accurate electronic
records and a demonstrated understanding of confidentiality requirements
pertaining to client care and client records.
Personal Attributes:
·Ability to work collaboratively in a
multi-disciplinary team environment.
·Strong organisational and time
management skills.
Qualifications and Registrations
Requirement (Essential or Desirable).
·Valid Victorian driver’s licence ESSENTIAL
·Certificate III in Dental Assisting (or
recognised equivalent experience and competency) ESSENTIAL
·Current First Aid Certificate ESSENTIAL
·Demonstrated experience working as a Dental
Assistant, including chairside assistance, infection control and sterilisation
processes ESSENTIAL
·A satisfactory Working with Children
Check and Fit2Work Police Check ESSENTIAL
·Ability to work effectively within a
multidisciplinary health service environmentESSENTIAL
·A person of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander
background DESIRABLE
·Proof of COVID-19 vaccinated to align with GEGAC
requirements ESSENTIAL
