Purpose of Role

We are seeking an experienced Field Supervisor – FTTP with strong technical expertise in Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) network deployment. The ideal candidate has recent, hands-on field experience, deep understanding of fibre technologies, and a proven track record leading field teams in delivering high quality network infrastructure.

This role oversees end-to-end field operations for FTTP deployment, including workforce management, contractor performance, safety compliance, and delivery outcomes. The Field Supervisor ensures all fibre build activities meet technical standards, customer expectations, compliance frameworks, and project milestones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage field technicians and subcontractors delivering FTTP construction, installation, and maintenance.
  • Oversee daily field operations, ensuring delivery targets are met safely, efficiently, and with high quality.
  • Develop and implement field deployment strategies to meet project timelines and service-level expectations.
  • Provide technical guidance on FTTP build methodologies, fibre splicing, testing, PON technologies, and network activation.
  • Conduct field audits and quality inspections to ensure adherence to engineering specifications and design packs.
  • Troubleshoot escalated technical issues from the field and support continuous improvement of build practices.
  • Monitor progress across multiple deployment sites, identifying risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities for optimisation.
  • Manage contractor performance, deliverables, and compliance against KPIs and contractual obligations.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of field activities, production metrics, defects, and safety incidents.
  • Champion a safety-first culture across all field activities.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental regulations, and industry standards.
  • Conduct toolbox talks,safety inspections, and competency assessments.

Skills & Experience

  • 3–5 years’ experience in the telecommunications or fibre deployment industry.
  • Recent hands-on field experience in fibre deployment (e.g., splicing, testing, civil construction, or network activation).
  • Strong understanding of FTTP technologies, including PON architectures, fibre distribution networks,and optical testing.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing field teams or subcontractors.
  • Proven ability to interpret technical drawings, design packs, and construction documents.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-volume network deployment environments.
  • Certification in fibre technologies (e.g., CFOT, CFOS, OTDR testing).
  • Knowledge of GIS/field management tools.
  • WHS qualifications (e.g., White Card, First Aid, Safety Supervisor).
  • Experience in large-scale telecommunications rollouts (desirable)
