Foundation Education Group is home to two nationally recognised Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) – the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers (RTO 32363) and Foundation Education (RTO 22557). We’re looking for an experienced Compliance Manager to lead the evolution of our quality, risk and compliance function. 

 

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this role goes well beyond maintaining regulatory compliance. You’ll design and embed contemporary governance, risk, control and compliance frameworks that support business performance, enable growth and ensure we continue delivering exceptional outcomes for our students, employers and industry partners.

This is a full-time, office-based position located in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. 

 

About the Role

This is a varied role that combines strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. You’ll be responsible for leading Foundation Education Group’s compliance program, partnering with leaders across the business to strengthen governance, manage risk and ensure our operations continue to meet the highest regulatory standards. 

 

From leading audit readiness and monitoring legislative change to improving business processes and implementing practical controls, you’ll play a key role in helping the organisation operate effectively, sustainably and with confidence. 

 

Success in this role will come from your ability to influence stakeholders, build strong working relationships and deliver practical solutions that support both compliance and commercial outcomes. 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Design, implement and continuously improve Foundation Education Group’s governance, risk and compliance framework.
  • Develop and embed preventative, detective and corrective controls across business processes and operational activities.
  • Establish and maintain a clear compliance accountability model across the organisation.
  • Lead the annual compliance program, internal audits and external audit readiness.  Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and translate them into practical business improvements.
  • Develop policies, procedures and governance frameworks that support sustainable compliance.
  • Use data and reporting to monitor control effectiveness, identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner with leaders across the organisation to embed quality and compliance into everyday operations.
  • Build strong relationships with regulators, funding bodies and key stakeholders.
  • Foster a culture where quality, risk management and compliance support outstanding student and industry outcomes.   

About You

You’re a commercially minded compliance professional who understands that effective compliance goes beyond meeting regulatory obligations. You enjoy designing practical frameworks, embedding controls into business operations and partnering with leaders to achieve strong business, student and industry outcomes.  

You’ll bring: 

  • Demonstrated experience designing and operating governance, risk and compliance frameworks.  
  • A Sound knowledge of (or ability to acquire) the VET Quality Framework, ASQA Standards and relevant legislation (or the ability to rapidly build this knowledge).  
  • Strong knowledge of preventative, detective and corrective control environments.  
  • Experience delivering organisation-wide compliance or risk programs from design through implementation.  
  • A proactive, commercial mindset with the ability to balance regulatory requirements with business outcomes.  
  • Strong analytical skills and confidence using data to identify opportunities and improve performance.  
  • Experience working within a complex, regulated and preferably technology-enabled organisation.  
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organisation.
