About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Digital & Data, the AI & Data Lead will be responsible for establishing and leading Foundation Education Group’s data architecture, reporting capability, governance frameworks and AI strategy.
The successful candidate will lead the Data & Automation team, work closely with senior leaders across the business and play a critical role in delivering major technology transformation initiatives. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on expertise across data architecture, migration, business intelligence, automation and artificial intelligence.
Key Responsibilities
- Define, establish and own Foundation Education Group’s enterprise data architecture, standards, governance frameworks and single source of truth across student, operational, financial and regulatory data domains.
- Lead data migration activities associated with FEG’s technology transformation program, including planning, mapping, testing, validation and cutover activities.
- Own operational, business and financial reporting across the organisation, ensuring leaders have timely and reliable insights to support decision-making.
- Develop and execute FEG’s AI and automation roadmap, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability and business performance.
- Design and implement AI-enabled business process improvements and automation initiatives that deliver measurable value.
- Drive the use of learning analytics and data insights to support improved student outcomes and enhance the student experience.
- Establish and maintain data quality, security, retention and records management frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Develop and maintain enterprise data definitions, standards and documentation to support consistency and governance across the organisation.
- Lead, mentor and develop the Data & Automation team while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Manage external consultants, vendors and delivery partners to ensure successful delivery outcomes and value for investment.
- Establish and oversee AI governance frameworks, including approved use cases, responsible AI practices, model monitoring and human oversight controls.
- Partner with senior stakeholders across the business to translate complex data, AI and technology concepts into practical business outcomes and strategic initiatives.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of FEG’s digital, data and technology strategy.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in data leadership, data architecture, migration, reporting and governance.
- Demonstrated success establishing data foundations, frameworks and standards within growing or transforming organisations.
- Experience delivering AI, automation and business transformation initiatives that have generated measurable business outcomes.
- Have had hands-on experience with Business Intelligence and reporting tools.
- Strong knowledge of modern cloud-based data platforms, data architecture principles and business intelligence tools.
- Practical understanding of AI governance, responsible AI practices and automation technologies.
- Proven experience leading teams and managing external consultants, vendors and delivery partners.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
- Experience working within regulated industries.
- Experience within the VET, RTO or broader education sector, including exposure to AVETMISS and government reporting requirements, will be highly regarded.
