BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Football Australia is growing and our Commercial team is on the hunt for a high-energy New Business Executive to help drive the next phase of revenue growth. Supporting the Senior Commercial Manager, this role is focused on securing new commercial partnerships across some of the most powerful properties in Australian sport including the CommBank Socceroos, CommBank Matildas, Hahn Australia Cup, Australian Championship, Coles MiniRoos, and a range of new and emerging programs.

 

The role spans the full sales cycle: researching and identifying high-potential categories and businesses, building compelling rights packages and sales materials, pitching to prospective partners, and contributing to negotiation and close. It requires close collaboration with multiple Football Australia teams and an enthusiasm and curiosity for understanding what prospective partners need. For an ambitious salesperson, this is an opportunity to make a real impact on Football Australia’s commercial growth.

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner closely with the Senior Commercial Manager to help deliver Football Australia’s annual commercial revenue targets
  • Build high‑impact, insight‑led sales materials and multimedia presentations, using research and audience data to tailor propositions to priority categories and prospective partners
  • Support the full sales cycle: researching and lead identification, prospecting, pitching and presenting, and supporting negotiation and contracting
  • Maintain a consistently updated pipeline and provide regular reporting and market insights to team management
  • Track industry trends, market movements, and emerging commercial opportunities across multiple sectors
  • Collaborate proactively with Football Australia’s Digital Content, Marketing, Events, Community, Legal and Media teams to develop partnership opportunities and maximise commercial outcomes

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Around 3 years’ experience in a commercial or business development role, ideally within sport or media sponsorship sales
  • Strong understanding of Football Australia’s properties
  • Highly organised and methodical, with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable presenting to mid‑to‑senior stakeholders and articulating data‑driven commercial proposals
  • Confident using Microsoft Office to develop professional sales collateral and presentations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine passion for sales and relationship building
  • Experience managing a sales pipeline end-to-end
  • Commercially savvy, with a strong interest in brand sponsorship and marketing trends, domestically and globally
  • Self-motivated and resilient, able to work autonomously, demonstrate initiative, and contribute positively to a high-performing team
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, video editing, sales software, and related tools a plus

 

UNIQUE CRITERIA

  • This role requires some weekend work around match days, as well as interstate travel for both match days and pitch meetings
