Hi there! We’re Five Good Friends.
We’re an approved aged care and NDIS service provider helping our Members (others call them clients) live vibrantly in their own homes. We wrap a care team around them and their families, supported by innovative software that coordinates in the background—so our teams can focus on what matters most: delivering exceptional care.
We’re proud to be a place where purpose meets impact. Every day, our work contributes to helping people live their best lives, and that starts with our people.
About the Role
As our Funding Optimisation Specialist, you’ll act as the crucial link between funding, operations, and care delivery. You’ll ensure our members get the most value from their Support at Home program, enabling them to live safely and independently at home while making the best possible use of their funding.
Working closely with our Care Teams, you’ll take a structured, proactive approach to managing member budgets across quarterly funding cycles. You’ll identify opportunities, investigate trends, and translate insights into clear, practical actions that help Care Teams better support their members.
This is a brand-new role and is critical to our future. With changes across the funding landscape and increasing demand on Care Teams, your work will help rebalance workload, allowing our teams to focus on what they do best – delivering exceptional care.
Location: Brisbane-based preferred, but we’re open to candidates across Australia.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead quarterly reviews of member funding to identify risks, gaps, and opportunities to improve outcomes
- Analyse trends and investigate issues, turning insights into clear, practical actions for care teams
- Partner closely with stakeholders to support smarter, more confident decisions around funding use
- Step in to resolve issues and optimise how funding is allocated and utilised across your own portfolio
- Help shape and build a new approach to funding optimisation, influencing services and ways of working across the business
About You
We’re open to candidates from a wide range of backgrounds – what matters most is your mindset and passion for making a difference, supported by the skills and capability to thrive in this role.
If you enjoy solving problems, working across teams, and turning insights into action, we’d love to hear from you.
You’ll bring:
- Experience working with budgets, funding models, or financial processes (essential)
- An analytical mindset — able to interpret data and turn it into meaningful action
- Strong problem-solving skills and a natural curiosity to investigate “what’s really going on”
The ability to communicate clearly and practically with non-technical stakeholders
- A structured, organised approach with strong follow-through
- A collaborative, supportive style that enables others to do their best work
- A genuine passion for improving outcomes and the lives of people receiving care
What’s in It for You
This is not just another operational role — it’s a rare opportunity to build something new and shape how funding supports better care outcomes. You’ll play a pivotal role in driving meaningful impact for members while partnering with passionate teams and influencing how we evolve in a changing funding landscape.
And a few more things we think you’ll value:
- A competitive salary package that recognises your skills and experience.
Flexible work options—based in South Brisbane with the option to work from home a few days per week.
- Interstate applicants welcome for fully remote work.
- Annual $500 health and wellbeing allowance.
- Additional annual leave accrual after your second year.
- Free confidential counselling through our Employee Assistance Program.
- Parental leave top ups for eligible caregivers, including superannuation support. Extend our care to a loved one at a special rate.
- A workplace with an employee engagement score 17% above industry average.
- And after 5 years of continuous service, a trip to Okinawa, Japan, the community that inspired Five Good Friends.
