About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and empathetic Mentor to engage with and support First Nation Australian Apprentices and Employers throughout the apprenticeship lifecycle.
This role focuses on early intervention, retention support and relationship management, working with apprentices and employers who may be experiencing challenges. The Mentor will provide guidance, practical support and referrals to improve apprenticeship outcomes and overall retention.
Your Responsibilities
This role will be responsible for:
- Providing culturally appropriate mentoring and support services to First Nations Australian Apprentices, Trainees and Employers across key stages of the apprenticeship lifecycle.
- Building strong, trusted relationships that encourage engagement, confidence and successful apprenticeship outcomes.
- Identifying and assessing risk factors to determine apprentices and trainees requiring additional or early intervention support.
- Engaging with apprentices, trainees and employers via phone, email, virtual platforms and face-to-face meetings to provide ongoing guidance, mentoring and pastoral care.
- Developing and maintaining Tailored Support Plans (TSPs) to address individual participant needs.
- Supporting apprentices and trainees from at-risk cohorts, including those facing educational, social, cultural, financial or personal barriers.
- Liaising with employers, training organisations, government departments and external support services to coordinate effective support
- Providing conflict resolution support and intervention strategies to assist in navigating workplace and apprenticeship relationship challenges.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have experience and/or the ability to develop skills in:
- Supporting individuals within vocational, employment or training environments
- Engaging with diverse client groups and managing sensitive or complex conversations
- Assessing risk and responding with appropriate intervention and referral pathways
- Building strong relationships with employers and stakeholders
- Record keeping, case management and reporting within funded programs
- Managing competing priorities and maintaining outcomes-focused caseloads
- Have or be willing to obtain a Bluecard and recent Police Check
- You will also demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, empathy, professionalism, and the ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team.
