Description

About Us

Fintech Services Australia is a modern Australian fintech on a mission to make finance work better for people. We bring together technology, data, and deep lending expertise to deliver innovative financial solutions – and we’re proud to be recognised as Australia’s most accessible non-bank lender, winning back-to-back awards in 2023 and 2024.

With a major platform transformation underway and an ambitious product roadmap ahead, this is an exciting time to start your engineering career at a company that invests in its people and moves fast.

About the Role

We’re looking for an Associate Developer who is hungry to learn, takes pride in their work, and wants to grow into a well-rounded engineer. You’ll join our Product & Technology division, embedded in a supportive cross-functional squad and reporting to our Tech Lead.

This is a genuine career-start role – you’ll be guided by experienced developers, contributing to real work from day one, and given a clear pathway to grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain software components using established patterns and standards, with support from senior engineers.
  • Deliver assigned tasks reliably within sprint timelines, following our agile processes and SDLC practices.
  • Write and maintain automated tests, learning best practices as you go.
  • Participate in code reviews – as a recipient and, where appropriate, as a reviewer – to sharpen your craft.
  • Actively seek feedback and mentorship and demonstrate measurable improvement over time.
  • Build awareness of AI-assisted development tools and learn how to apply them responsibly.
  • Assist with incident response and learn from production issues to improve future work.

What You Bring

  • 0–2 years’ experience in software development, or equivalent academic or project experience.
  • Basic proficiency in one or more modern programming languages.
  • A solid grasp of fundamental software development concepts.
  • A genuine willingness to learn and grow within an agile team environment.
  • Bonus points for internship or commercial placement experience, or exposure to cloud platforms and modern development tooling.
  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • A structured environment to start your career – real mentorship from experienced engineers, not just thrown in the deep end.
  • The energy of a fast-moving company where good ideas get traction quickly.
  • A clear career pathway toward Developer and beyond.
  • Flexible working conditions to keep life and work in balance.
  • A collaborative, open workspace with good coffee, modern amenities, and a team that genuinely enjoys what they build.
  • Access to training and development to support your growth.
  • A conveniently located Perth CBD office, 50m from Elizabeth Quay Station.
