Fighting Chance are on the lookout for an experienced Grant Writer to identify funding opportunities and develop high-quality written materials to support organisational growth and impact. This role combines strategic grant writing with compelling storytelling to articulate the Fighting Chance Group mission, initiatives, and achievements across multiple enterprises in the Fighting Chance group (currently made up of five social enterprises).

ABOUT FIGHTING CHANCE

Fighting Chance designs, builds and scales social enterprises which move the dial for Australians with disability and their family. We work to identify the challenges, hurdles and barriers faced by people with disability in their everyday lives and then design and build sustainable social enterprise businesses to bridge these gaps. Our mission is to ask ‘WHAT IF?’, to see the world as it isn’t yet, to image a future quite different to the present. And then to make it happen!

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the CEO, your main responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Research, identify and track appropriate grant opportunities.
  • Prepare and submit grant applications, proposals/pitches, expressions of interest, reports and acquittals resulting in ~$1m/pa in grant funding
  • Write engaging content for newsletters, blogs, impact stories, social media and websites.
  • Support CEO and enterprise GMs to steward key philanthropic relationships.
  • Build and maintain relationships with funders, partners and community networks and attend events.
  • Role model to a high standard the policies and procedures, values and performance standards of Fighting Chance.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or 7+ years previous experience in a grant writing, fundraising, media relations or similar role.
  • Understanding of funding frameworks, philanthropy and government grant processes.
  • Strong research, analytical and organisational abilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously and self-motivate.
  • Alignment with the Values of Fighting Chance is essential.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal skills
  • Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills
  • Possess or be willing to obtain a NDIS Worker Screening Check and a Working with Children Check.
