Description

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a detail-oriented Trainee Auditor to join our specialist SMSF audit team. This role is well-suited to candidates returning to the workforce after a career break who are looking for flexible hours.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with prior experience or study in accounting, auditing, finance, or bookkeeping who are seeking hands-on exposure to Australian SMSF audit processes within a supportive, technology-driven environment.

Full training in Australian SMSF audit standards and procedures will be provided.

The Role

  • Assist in the execution of SMSF audits in accordance with Australian auditing standards and regulatory requirements
  • Perform initial review and verification of financial records, member statements, and fund documentation
  • Support audit testing procedures under the supervision of senior auditors
  • Identify and document discrepancies, exceptions, or compliance issues for review
  • Assist in preparing audit files, working papers, and supporting documentation
  • Communicate with clients and accountants to request outstanding information and clarify queries
  • Support resolution of audit findings and pre/post-audit issues in collaboration with senior team members
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure audit progress is tracked and completed within deadlines
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of audit processes and documentation quality

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience or study in accounting, auditing, finance, or related fields (formal degree or equivalent experience desirable)
  • Ideally, a mature candidate, including those who have recently migrated to Australia and are seeking to establish a professional career locally
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in financial data handling
  • Ability to work methodically through structured audit procedures
  • Good time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Competent with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and PDF tools (Adobe Acrobat)
  • Willingness to learn Australian SMSF legislation, auditing standards, and compliance frameworks
  • A professional, proactive, and reliable approach to work
