What’s the role?

We’re looking for a Kitchen Hand to join our Wynnum Village on a casual basis, working approximately 15 hours per week.

Working alongside the Chef and reporting to the Village Manager, you’ll support the day-to-day operation of the kitchen by:

  • Assisting the Chef with preparing and serving nutritious, home-style meals
  • Washing dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment
  • Cleaning and sanitising food preparation and dining areas
  • Ensuring food is stored, labelled and rotated correctly
  • Safely disposing of waste and maintaining a clean, organised kitchen
  • Following food safety, WHS and compliance procedures
  • Reporting hazards, incidents or equipment faults promptly
  • Engaging positively with residents and contributing to a warm, welcoming dining experience
  • Supporting a positive team culture and helping create a community where residents feel valued and connected

You’ll ideally have:

  • Previous experience in a kitchen, hospitality or cleaning role
  • A Food Handling Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • An understanding of food safety and workplace health and safety practices
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude
  • A compassionate and respectful approach when interacting with older Australians
