What’s the role?
We’re looking for a Chef to join our Benalla Village on a permanent part-time basis, working 30 hours per week.
Working independently and reporting to the Village Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the village kitchen by:
- Preparing and serving nutritious, home-style lunches and desserts for approximately 52 residents each day
- Planning and preparing meals in line with the village menu
- Maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation and portion control
- Managing stock, storage and stock rotation to minimise waste
- Cleaning and sanitising the kitchen and dining areas
- Maintaining food safety records and ensuring compliance with food safety and WHS requirements
- Reporting hazards, incidents or equipment faults promptly
- Building positive relationships with residents and contributing to a warm, welcoming dining experience
- Supporting a positive team culture and helping create a community where residents feel valued and connected

Is this role right for you?
We’re looking for someone who enjoys preparing quality meals and takes pride in creating positive dining experiences.
You’ll ideally have:
- A Trade Qualification in Commercial Cookery
- Food Safety Supervisor Certification
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or similar environment
- A strong understanding of food safety, kitchen compliance and stock management
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- The ability to work independently while contributing to a positive team culture
- A compassionate and respectful approach when interacting with older Australians
- A genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of our residents
