About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Fire Systems Designer / Senior Fire Systems Designer to join our growing team.
In this role, you will be responsible for the design and delivery of fire protection systems across multiple projects, working closely with project teams, contractors and clients to deliver accurate, compliant, and buildable solutions.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working across the full project lifecycle and understands how designs translate into construction.
This role can be tailored to suit candidates with varying levels of experience, with opportunities to contribute at both designer and senior designer level depending on capability.
You will be expected to operate with a high level of autonomy and contribute to the successful delivery of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop fire protection systems including sprinkler, hydrant, hose reel, fire detection and alarm systems
- Prepare and review detailed drawings, models and technical documentation using AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Coordinate designs with internal teams, contractors and other building services to ensure integrated, buildable outcomes
- Participate in BIM coordination and resolve design clashes
- Manage design deliverables across multiple projects, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met
- Provide technical support to project and site teams, including responding to RFIs and resolving design-related issues
- Support estimating and procurement activities, including material take-offs and design input
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant Australian Standards, codes and project specifications
About You
- Diploma in Fire Systems Design or higher (or equivalent qualification/experience)
- Relevant individual licences or accreditations (eg. QBCC Licence (Qld) or equivalent, NSW Design Practitioner, FPAS accreditation) highly regarded
- Willingness to act as, or obtain, a company nominee licence (e.g. QBCC Nominee Supervisor, or equivalent in other states) highly regarded
- Proven experience in fire systems design within a contractor or building services environment
- Strong understanding of fire protection systems (wet and/or dry fire) and relevant Australian Standards
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise workloads effectively
- Experience coordinating designs across multiple disciplines within construction projects
- Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to deliver practical, buildable solutions
- Confident communication skills and ability to work with project teams, clients and site personnel
