Design Manager

About the Role
This role is responsible for leading the design function across multiple projects, ensuring the delivery of compliant, high-quality design outcomes.
You will work closely with internal teams and stakeholders to support project delivery, while also contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of the design function.
Your Role
- Leading and supporting a design team to deliver consistent outcomes
- Managing design priorities across multiple projects
- Contributing to project delivery from tender through to completion
- Reviewing and guiding design work to ensure quality and compliance
- Working collaboratively with internal teams and stakeholders
- Contributing to continuous improvement across systems and processes
About You
- Experience in fire protection design or a related engineering/construction discipline
- Diploma in Fire Systems Design (or equivalent qualification/experience) highly regarded
- Relevant industry accreditations or licences (eg. QBCC Licence (Qld) or equivalent, NSW Design Practitioner, FPAS accreditation) highly regarded
- Previous experience in a senior design, lead designer, or design management role
- Strong understanding of fire protection systems and relevant Australian Standards
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
- Ability to operate with a high level of autonomy and accountability
- Strong commercial awareness, including understanding of budgets and project delivery
- High level of accountability, attention to detail, and ownership
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across teams
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to make informed decisions
