Elizabeth Morgan House Aboriginal Women’s Services Inc. (EMH) is an Aboriginal
Community Controlled Organisation that has provided Specialist Family Violence
services to Victorian Aboriginal women and their children since 1976. We offer
culturally appropriate, trauma-informed services that empower Aboriginal women,
children, and young people. Our work spans family violence response, crisis
accommodation, justice services, and therapeutic support across Northern and
Western Melbourne Metro.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Team Leader Family Violence Services (Northern Metropolitan Area) to lead a team of specialist family violence case managers. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, culturally safe, and trauma-informed services to Aboriginal women and their children, ensuring holistic and responsive support. The Team Leader will oversee service delivery, support a multidisciplinary team, and work closely with sector partners across housing, mental health, AOD, disability, and family services to strengthen outcomes for clients.
This is a temporary full-time position (12 months) to cover maternity leave.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead, motivate, and support a multidisciplinary team to deliver specialist family
violence case management.
• Provide supervision, coaching, and professional development to enhance team
performance and ensure high-quality service delivery.
• Lead by example in implementing best practices, including trauma-informed,
strengths-based, and culturally safe approaches.
• Identify and act on strategic opportunities to improve service delivery and meet
emerging needs within the community.
• Develop and oversee case plans, risk assessments, and safety planning using
the MARAM framework.
• Build and maintain strong, effective relationships with sector agencies,
government departments, and community organisations.
• Represent EMH in sector forums, committees, and networks, advocating for the
needs of Aboriginal women and children.
• Manage risk and compliance in line with EMH’s Risk Framework and OH&S
policies.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring that the team stays
informed about sector changes and new methodologies.
Key Selection Criteria
• Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in social work or a related field, in line with
the minimum qualifications for specialist family violence practitioners.
• Leadership Experience: Proven leadership experience in managing
multidisciplinary teams, with a focus on staff development, performance
management, and service delivery excellence.
• Experience: Extensive experience in family violence case management, crisis
intervention, and advocacy, specifically for Aboriginal women and children.
• Knowledge: A comprehensive understanding of family violence dynamics,
MARAM, FVISS, and CISS frameworks.
• Skills: Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and time
management skills, with a strong ability to inspire and lead a team across
multiple locations.
• Cultural Competency: Deep understanding of Aboriginal culture, history, and
self-determination, and a strong commitment to culturally safe practices.
Connection to community is highly desirable.
Requirements

• National Police Check.
• Valid Victorian Driver’s License.
•Meets the Mandatory Minimum Qualifications (MMQ)for specialist family violence practitioners, or is actively working towards meeting these requirements in line with Rec 209
